Fontainebleau Casino Luxury Watch Thefts Lead to Four Arrests
Recently, four suspects were taken into custody following a police investigation into the theft of two expensive watches at Club LIV in the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
One of the timepieces was recognized as a $400K Richard Mille timepiece. The other is a Richard Mille worth $120K.
The initial robbery occurred on August 17. The individual, named Ye Zaw, entered a restroom inside the nightclub. As he left the restroom, numerous individuals jostled and bumped against him, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Eventually, he noticed that his watch had disappeared.
On September 15, the identical suspects encircled Roman Loyfenfeld while he was dancing at the club. A quick altercation took place, and shortly afterward, he noticed that the expensive watch he had on was missing.
In both cases, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) examined surveillance footage to try to identify the suspects.
According to Las Vegas TV station KLAS, the suspects were observed monitoring the targeted victims, diverting their attention, and then seemingly taking the watches.
Face Recognition Technology
On November 22, security personnel at Fontainebleau recognized the same individuals at the resort-casino. According to KLAS, facial recognition technology was used to identify them.
They were arrested at the Clark County Detention Center for grand theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft.
The individuals identified by police are Milton Castillo Martinez, Laura Vargas, Briyith Munoz, and Johan Hernandez.
They are set to appear in the local court on January 22. If found guilty, they might receive prison terms.
Organizing, Synchronization
Local police stated that both incidents were premeditated thefts.
"They showed clear planning and coordination, by surrounding their victims and creating a diversion or friction with their bodies to distract the victim from the watches being taken off their wrist,” according to a LVMPD arrest report quoted by the Review-Journal.
A representative from Fontainebleau informed the media outlet last week that "the safety and security of our guests and members is our top priority."
Rolex Burglary
Last month, a well-known sex worker was arrested after reportedly stealing a luxury watch from an unidentified man at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
Koncina Brisbon, 30, is said to have encountered the man at the hotel’s Bleau Bar on May 19. She lowered herself next to him, teased, and made physical contact. An hour later, authorities reported that she added something to his drink while he was not paying attention.
Soon after, the man and Brisbon approached the hotel’s front desk, where he booked another room.
The couple ascended the stairs while grasping each other's hands. They shared a kiss in an elevator, and hours later, the man awoke in the second room to discover Brisbon was missing. His $125,000 Rolex timepiece, $2,000 in cash, and $500 in casino chips had also disappeared.
